Overview
As university students we understand the constraints that traditional education can sometimes have on creativity, whether that be through the material being taught or the environment being taught in.
For our workshops we want to explore the relationship between art and the outdoors; how it feels to be educated amongst nature and how, as a teacher as well as a student, you have to adapt to the space.
We plan to deliver a workshop each week that is targeted towards giving the children the tools to use such a natural environment as a stables to harness their creativity and push the boundaries of what they have been taught both art and education could be.

Rather than create throwaway work with the children, we want to encourage the creation of work that carries meaning and could be part of a continuing collaboration between us and the students, as well as the students and the outdoors.
We plan to create a final sculpture of a tree showcasing all of the student’s work that will be made across the span of the workshops at Summerfield Stables.
Why a tree? Trees symbolise growth, a story from the planting of a seed to the blooming of leaves; we want to show our journey with different forms of education, with the children, and between the children and their own creativity through the work that is created.
