Guerra De La Paz sculptures inspired our U is for Unconventional workshop. Collaborative Cuban artists 'Guerra De La Paz' create sculptures out of unconventional colourful sculptures out of recycled clothing.

They find inspiration in the ready-made and the archaeological qualities and significance of the human footprint, revealing psychological and environmental messages. Their art questions modern consumer society and why we throw away goods that are still in good condition. With the main example being clothes.

As we are placed outdoors in the Summerfield Stables we have a lot of recycled materials available to us, and we felt that we should use these to our advantage by asking the children to explore the stables and find as many natural or recycled materials as possible in order to create work.
It was important to include natural and recycled materials in our workshops so we could familiarise the children with their surroundings and connect art with nature.
