U is for Unconventional
Make a small creature, real or imaginary that you think would live in the space that you made the previous week. Discuss how the man-made materials look in the organic shapes and surroundings. Give your creature a name and personality.
The kid's responses
We asked the kids to use a collection of man-made and natural materials to bring to life the creatures that they thought could live in the houses they had built during the previous workshop, as well as any other creatures that might live in the outdoors.

We also asked them to give their creatures names and personalities.

One of the kids wanted to use a needle and thread to create a stuffed toy with the foam dinosaur and unicorn heads however, we didn't have any needles or thread. What we did have were pipe cleaners. I decided to try to use the pipe cleaners as thread, using the metal core as a needle, to join the two pieces of foam together. When I found that this would work I taught the kids how to do the same, and showed them that they could also use horsehair or hay to stuff their creatures, then decorate them.
